Homeschool Reading Level Up

                                     Reading is the Core of the Core Subjects

 

Our Homeschool Reading Level Up virtual online program has certified, highly-qualified teachers ready to provide instruction in reading and language arts. Each grade level will meet for a total of three hours each week and will include access to two online reading programs for practicing outside the classroom.

Total enrollment for this program will be be 15 students per grade level group.

Class Design

Grades 1- 3

Day 1

Block 1/25 min. Guided Reading Assess-Decide-Guide framework using passages from Readworks.org, Wilbooks, myView Literacy, and other sources. Breakout rooms in individual or in small groups

Block 2/35 min:  Online reading textbook, myView Literacy/Savvas for close reading, strategy and skill instruction; Interactive text, with annotation and audio features.

Day 2

Block 1/25 min. Independent work with Foundations A-Z, an adaptive and individualized reading program; Breakout rooms for small group support with the teacher and teacher assistant

 

Block 2/35 min. IXL (online diagnostic and skill practice tool) 15 min; Games and hands-on reading activities (20 min); Whole group, teacher-directed, and highly engaging

Day 3

Repeat Day 1

Day 1

Block 2/20 min. Independent work with the Foundations A-Z, an adaptive and individualized reading program. Breakout rooms for small group support with the teacher and teacher assistant

Grade Level Groupings

There will be a 12:30 pm EST and a 5:30 pm EST class for each grade level.

Classes will be set up as follows: 

Grade K/ tentative

Grade 1 (special selection;  7 students maximum)--- only 12:30 pm EST

Grade 2 (special selection;  7 students maximum)---time to be announced 

Grade 1 and Grade 2 Class (Grade 2 children are below grade level)

Grade 2 and Grade 3 Class (Grade 3 children are below grade level)

Grade 3 and Grade 4 Class (Grade 4 children are below grade level)

Grade 4 and Grade 5 Class (Grade 5 children are below grade level)

Grade 5 and Grade 6 Class (Grade 6 children are below grade level)

Kindergarteners will be enrolled in a class based on the number of parent requests

Request for alternate placements will be considered.

Parent Reports from Foundations A to Z and IXL practice or Diagnostic tests will be distributed. Foundation reading skills checklist reports will also be distributed to parents.
Classes will meet three times per week. Meeting days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 12:30 pm Eastern. For homeschoolers who need a later session, we also will have classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 5:30 pm Eastern.
