Reading is the Core of the Core Subjects

 

 

Our Summer Reading Level Up virtual online reading classes have certified, highly-qualified teachers ready to provide instruction in reading and language arts. Each grade level will meet for a total of three hours each week and will include an offline assignments component where students will be assisted as needed. This program will benefit parents with a struggling reader who may need intervention beyond the classroom or home instruction. Classes are for children in traditional schools and homeschools. It is also an excellent program to enroll your child in to help to prevent summer reading loss. Please supply crayons/markers, white board or white papers, notebook, pencil,

Enrollment is for grades K-6 as follows:

   Class A. Grade K to Grade 1/Fall 

​

Class B. Grade 1 to Grade 2/Fall

​

Class C. Grade 2 to Grade 3/Fall

​

Class D. Grade 3 to Grade 4/Fall

 

Class E. Grade 4 to Grade 5/Fall

Class E. Grade 5 to Grade 6/Falll

 

Total enrollment for this program will be be 10 students per grade level.

Class Design

Grades 1- 3

Day 1

Block 1/25 min. Guided Reading Assess-Decide-Guide framework using passages from Readworks.org; Breakout rooms will be used to work with children individually or in small groups.

Block 2/35 min:  Reading textbook and online software myView Literacy will be used for close reading, strategy and skill instruction

​

Day 2

Block 1/35 min. Independent work; breakout rooms for small group instruction 

 

Block 2/25 min. IXL, online games, Headsprout, hands-on activities, graphic organizers, response to text activities will be teacher-directed and highly engaging

Day 3

Repeat Day 1

Day 1

Day 2

Block 1/20 min. Continues from Block 2, Day 1; Reading textbook and online software myView Literacy will be used for close reading, strategy and skill instruction

Block 2/40 min. Independent work breakout rooms for small group instruction; response to text; writing, IXL and Headsprout; activities will be teacher-directed and highly engaging.
